How to Conquer Allergy Season This Year

Spring is nearly here! And while we’re excited for the warmer weather, sunnier days, and bluer skies, we’re not so excited for the beginning of allergy season. If you’re just as worried as we are, keep reading for a few at-home tips for beating allergy season this year.

  1. Replace Your Air Filters

When it comes to replacing your air filters, we typically recommend waiting no longer than 90 days to swap them out. However, if there’s anyone in your home with allergy sensitivities, we would recommend swapping those air filters every 30 days instead.

This will ensure that your air filters are always free to pick up dirt, dust, and other allergens floating through your home’s air so that they don’t end up recirculating through your home.

  1. Vacuum

Not only are your carpets a magnet for dirty shoe prints, but they’re also a magnet for other pollutants and contaminants. It’s even worse during spring when pollen counts are at an all-time high and are tracked into your home either on your clothes, your shoes or with your pets.

The one way to combat this is by making vacuuming a regular part of your weekly cleaning routine. Don’t wait until your carpets are noticeably dirty, by then it’s too late.

  1. Keep the Windows Closed

We all love fresh air, and there’s nothing better than opening all of the windows when the weather finally warms up, but this is not recommended during allergy season. This is especially true on high pollen days. Most weather apps notate the pollen count, so make sure to keep the house closed up on especially high pollen days.
